Interpretive Embroidery Sample 1

This sample uses basic embroidery stitches to explore line and texture.

Sample 1.1: Seed Stitch, which is made up of tiny fill stitches, or straight stitches. This ample uses different strands of floss: 1 strand on the left, 2 strands on the middle, and 3 strands on the right. All strands are the same color.

Sample 1.2: Satin Stitch. 2 strands of floss in each shape. Different direction of stitches in some shapes. Shapes are outlined in split stitch first to make the satin stitching easier to keep tidy.

Sample 1.6: Overcasting. This version consists of a “laid” thread of 2 strands of floss, and an overcast (like a satin stitch) of four strands.

1.7: Chain Stitch. A combination of 3 strands and 4 strands of floss.
